| Physical and Chemical Properties | The reduced green 1 is a dark green powder. Organic compounds used as vat dyes. It is a derivative of benzyl alcohol. Insoluble in water, ethanol, chloroform, toluene, slightly soluble in acetone, O-chlorophenol, nitrobenzene, pyridine (hot), soluble in tetrahydronaphthalene (warm). In concentrated sulfuric acid was red violet, diluted to produce green precipitation. It is blue in the alkaline solution of sodium hydrosulfite and bright red in the acidic solution. |
